Hamsters USA Provide Christmas Shopping Spree For Area Children

In coordination with local law enforcement, first responders, and community leaders, Hamsters USA motorcycle group members from the area funded Christmas shopping sprees for over 40 children, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. 2018 marked the fifth year of the program, which hopes to brighten the holiday season for children in need.

Hamsters USA members provided an average of $150 per child and local law enforcement officers provided escorts through the Spearfish Walmart, which also provided a Santa’s Workshop, and the Black Hills Pioneer provided gift wrap for kids to take home.

Partners in the program included members of the Spearfish Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, Lead Police Department, Department of Criminal Investigation, BHSU Police, Department of Corrections, Lawrence County Court Services, Lawrence County State’s Attorney, and Spearfish School District counseling staff.
