Keystone - Government & Citizenship

Keystone, South Dakota covers an area of 2.9 square miles is located in Pennington County. With a population of 340 in 2016, Keystone is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Keystone Community Center at 7:00 p.m.

Public Safety

Keystone is served by the Keystone Fire Department, located at 1011 Madill Street. The current Fire Chief is Corey Jonas and the Assistant Chief is Randy Moschell. There are currently 10 full time firefighters on staff. The Keystone Fire District, chaired by Jim Dehaai, meets every third Monday at 7pm at the Fire Department. 

Keystone does not have its own police department. The town is served by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, which has a satellite office located in City Hall.
